During what otherwise seems like a fairly normal investigation, Athena gets a bit of an uncomfortable feeling from one of the witnesses nearby. They always seem to be glancing over toward her and Apollo, hurriedly looking away the moment she meets their eye.
Probably just nervous, she reasons, but she decides to keep an eye on them all the same.
Later on, while Ema and the other police on-site are busy, she and Apollo approach this witness to ask a few questions. They seem reasonably receptive, but the moment Athena lets her guard down, something goes very wrong.
The witness suddenly draws a gun they'd been concealing, aiming it directly at Apollo while he's momentarily distracted. Not about to let something else horrible happen to him after all he's already been through, Athena lunges toward the witness without a second thought. She throws off their aim and attempts to wrestle the gun away, leaving Apollo stunned as he realizes what's happening.
Athena overpowers the attacker, but just before she can pull the gun from their grip, a single gunshot rings out. The gun drops to the ground as the police react to the scene. The attacker is caught with half a dozen guns pointed in their direction, and Apollo pulls Athena away. It's only a few seconds later that both of them spot the dark red stain beginning to soak the front of her outfit.
Athena's been shot in the chest, and is bleeding profusely. Ema rushes over just as Apollo begins to panic, desperate to stop the bleeding. Someone just tried to kill him, and now Athena's bleeding to death -- he just doesn't know what to do.
An ambulance is called immediately, leaving Apollo unable to do any more than wait, watching in terror as Athena loses more and more blood by the second.
Ema brings him to the hospital as the ambulance is escorted there, calling Phoenix in the meantime to tell him what's happened.
This prompt would mostly deal with the experience of Athena's recovery, Apollo staying as close to her as possible the entire time. Optimally, she would survive her injury, but if you're feeling even more evil than I am as I write this, she doesn't need to.
